The full model name of this is a "Fender Jazz Bass". The serial number on the neck is: S 856962, which, according to Fender's website, makes it a 1977 or a 1978. The original knobs of this bass were replaced with chrome knobs. They work perfectly fine. The pearl inlays on the neck mean this bass is very likely a 1977. It is possible the neck and body are from different model years.
The original pickups of this bass were replaced with EMG Active Pickups, which take a 9 volt battery for operation. (A 9 volt battery is included.) This bass weighs right about 10 pounds with strings. Obviously, the case weighs a bit extra. This bass is in good condition, but it has been used and is in the condition that should be expected for a 30 year old bass that has been properly cared for. The gallery of pictures exhibits any scratches, etc.
Metal accessories to cover the pickups and hardware are included, which are in excellent condition. There is no rust or pitting of any kind.
The bass has recently been restrung with standard new strings for the purpose of this sale. The bass can either be picked up in person, or professionally shipped in its case.
